Need help with fundraiser ideas for a good cause?

Last July I delivered $407 to a firehouse in Manhattan. This particular station means the world to me, and I'd like to raise money for them again. Last time I raised money by putting a coin-drop in my neighbor's pizza shop and putting my own money in. Some family members also contributed. But for the most part it was my own money. This time around, I would like to have many different ways to raise money. I'd like to raise $500 or more this time. I've thought about ads in the newspaper...what do you think? Please help me with ideas! This firehouse deserves it...they lost 15 men on 9/11, and have only been able to bury 8. I love this station to death, and really want to do this for them.

  1. wow thats a really good cause.

you could always try an auction

or a spaghetti dinner or some sort.

especially if you are recieveing help from locals.

since it is a city, i guess some stuff you can't or can do .

here in the suburbs were bag at grocery stores, and then recieve tips for doing it. We have someone sit by the door and recieve the tips. In about 6 hours we raise over 500 dollars.

ask a diner or restaurant if they'd give a 10 percent of their profits from one night. That way if you bring more customers, you both get more money.

Try getting a local school student government to help with it.

    or a rotary club.

you don't need to do it alone, there's plenty of people to help you, but you do need to go with them with ideas.

you'll get more done and collect more to.

  2. T-shirts will be a great seller to raise funds

  3. I own a vacation business that does fundraising. You raffle off vacations to raise the money. Or you can auction them off. There are 10 vacations to choose from. You can visit my site for more info. Feel free to contact me.

  4. you can put on a car wash, and get some people to help. $5 a car, make a sign that says what cause it's for,

maybe do the coin drop thing as well but find a few more places, like the local supermarket, etc ask the manager if they'd like to participate.

ad in the local paper is good, make sure it's free or cheap though. ads need to be eye catching though and it might get expensive.

maybe make a few posters and stick them up on notice boards,

raffle tickets are good too, they raise good money, but you gotta have a prize to give them. see if anyone you know wants to donate a prize.

    quiz night is good too.

  5. If you can be arsed putting the effort in, sell stuff on eBay and donate the proceeds. I'm sure folk would also give you things to sell. Or get people to sponsor you to wax your pubic hair... That's always a hit. ;-)
