My vision is 20/80 with contacts and thats as strong as they make the contacts. If i was to get glasses could they be strong enough to get my vision to 20/50 at least? I dont remember my vision with no correction though.

  1. You obviously have a very high prescription.  Have you spoken with your Optometrist about LASIK?  20/50  is still not within the limits of being legal to drive.  You should be able to get glasses made that will correct your vision to better than 20/50.  Do you have some underlying condition?  I need some more info to really give you a proper answer, such as your prescription.

If you could provide that it would be great.

Zeiss Lantal lenses are great for really high prescriptions and they are thin and light weight.  They are glass however in most cases, you can request plastic.  They are costly, but much more aesthetically appealing.

Get back to me and I can hopefully help you more.

  2. It depends how bad your vision is to begin with. What is your actual prescription? - that would give us a guide. Professional optometrists occasionally visit this site, and some of us amateurs know enough to guide you, but we need more info.

NOTE: I see the answerer below me has qualifications as long as your arm. I wonder, then, why she failed to mention that if your prescription is very high (as it sounds like it is), LASIK correction is not appropriate. -14.00 is about the limit, and most clinics won't go beyond -10.00.
