Hi, I am looking for a decent receiver where I can adjust the EQ of ALL the speakers instead of the front two. I currently have an insignia receiver and I can only adjust the front 2 speakers making the rest sound dull with lack of treble.

  1. Howdy. What do ya want to spend? Test all the receivers 7.1 in your range and pick the one you like best. I have NAD-T775 and love it. NAD has very good sound, but pricey. When buying over the web you might not get the manufactures warranty. Be carefull. Find a local ht shop by you , or drive to a good one. A good shop will set it up if you want them to. Good luck.

  2. You can't go wrong with Pioneer, Yamaha, or Onkyo.  Insignia is a generic Chinese brand and there's a reason why its the lowest cost amp at Best Buy....

If you really need such granularity with your equalization you may wish to consider an external equalizer and an amplifer that supports such equipment through a pre-out/in.

  3. Try the Pioneer vsx1017.  It isnt the most advanced for video but it has GREAT sound for a good price.  I looked far and wide and read ALOT of reviews and listened in alot of stores and it was the best bang for the buck for good sound.  Probably goes for around $350. I got mine for about that at B&Hphoto.com.  Yamaha and onkyo also make some pretty good quality stuff in the same price range but the pioneer sounded better to me.  Check amazon too. They have good prices and usually the most user reviews than other places which can be very helpful. Cnet.com also has pro reviews of a bunch of receivers. Good luck!!
