  1. If they are isolated they will breed by themselves and the fry won't be eaten. The males are a little more frilly and brighter in color than the females.

  2. yes you can breed them. can you tell the difference between males and females? all you need where you store them in is plants for the fry (baby fish) to hide in. the difference between males and females is that females have a dark spot where their fin ends thats dark and darker when they're pregnant. males have thin bodies and longer tails and are generally more colorful. i normally wouldnt help somebody that is going to feed them because i enjoy breeding them and getting lots of guppies and giving them as gifts to other people that have aquariums. but i told you because maybe once you get into breeding them you may want to keep a few and enjoy having them instead of them just being oscar fish poo. anyway good luck and i hope this information helped! : ) happy breeding

  3. Just to add to that usually the females are already pregnent when you get then and almost always they will have a small brown sac by the anal fin. Also make sure there is more females than males. You can buy a small breeding box that just floats on the top of the tank until the babies are big enough not to get eaten by the other guppies. I have been breeding them for over a year now in a 10 gallon. I also have two 55 gallons with oscars but i have only fed them goldfish, seeds, and nuts because guppies would never fill them up and they are too pretty to use as feeders!!!!

  4. Look at the anal (bottom) fin. If it is fanned shape, then it is a female...if it straight and pointing toward the tail, then it is a male.

This link shows a picture of how to identify the s*x of platies...but it is the same for guppies.

  5. i have had guppies mate before. try buying some more and putting them all in the same tank for a while.

P.S.- baby guppies are very small so you will have to wait for them to get bigger.
