Need help with hair?

Question

Well i'm going to get my hair cut tomorrow and i was wondering if it was better to dye my hair first or to cut it or does it make a difference? and i'm going to dye my hair at home not professionally and i also wanted to ask if there's any straighteners that y'all can recommend (or hair products) to help prevent split ends because i get really bad split ends like a week after i cut my hair and i'm guessing it's because i straighten my hair alot thnx
