Need help with hook up?

I have a new sharp 52SE94U LCD TV and a Pioneer VSX-36TX reciever and Direct TV HI DEF DVR. the reciever dosen't have HDMI. I need help hooking these up.What cables ,HDMI.?? what to what? thanks

  1. I agree with the previous poster: HDMI straight to the TV, and optical to the receiver.

    This way you can use the TV speakers for casual TV watching, but turn down the TV and fire up the receiver for more serious movie watching.

    For short runs - I have gotten some good HDMI cables and optical cables from Monoprice.  For longer runs (pushing 15 ft), I like the better cables from BlueJeans.


  2. Take an hdmi cable from the dvr and connect to the hdmi input of the tv. Next take the audio optical out connection from the dvr and connect it to the optical audio in on the receiver. Your tv has 3 hdmi inputs. So you will need 1 hdmi cable and 1 audio optical cable. Hope this helps.
