What is the relationship between environment and development at a global scale. Define 'environment' and 'development' and identify three natural resource issues that relate. Provide concrete examples of how 'nature' and 'society' relationships vary over global space.

That's a massive question - but a good one! I’ve looked into the relationship between development and environment in relation to mega-dams (like the Three Gorges Dam in China, the West Seti in Nepal). Development is necessary to be able to focus on environmental issues. Under developed regions/countries can not be expected to purely focus on environmental issues when they for instance have a natural resource that can be used to enhance the living standard of millions of people, and change production methods into more sustainable ones. The key is to balance development and environment – development with an environmental focus. With development that is paced out by the local people in the area, a future that is wanted by the indigenous people comes together with a sustainable development.
