Hi,

I purchased a new wireless rechargeable mouse and keyboard set for my computer and the connectors/plugs are different than what I have on the back of my computer.

I thought all keyboards and mice were universal?? APPARENTLY NOT!

The plugin on the back my Dell computer are like bars but the wires from the mouse housing unit (not sure what this is called) has round plugs and they are suppose to plug into the back of my PC

How can I make this fit my computer?

  1. The device you have bought is probably for a PARALLEL PORT computer.  You do have a PS/2 Port at the back of your computer (DELL).  That is round shape and has PINS on it.  You might want to check for a PS/2 Port on your PC if it would fit. Or you can just give the device back and get a refund and buy a device with a PS/2 Port.

  2. the kit that you have will probably consist of 3 items.

    1.keyboard   .2. mouse  .3 control unit

The control unit plugs into one of the bar type sockets(usb) this is the transmitter and receiver for mouse and keyboard.

You MAY also have a driver c.d. to run and install drivers. insert c.d. follow promps.

    Fit batteries into mouse & keyboard,note correct polarity + & -

One the back of each is a button, press this  on both one at a time and the keyboard & mouse should automaticaly setup  .(there should be an icon at the bottom right of your screen to confirm this.)

Finally unplug original wired kweyboard & wired mouse

  3. I suggest you go to a computer store and get some advice , but I think you can get an adaptor plug

  4. The round plugs are called PS/2 and the rectangular ones are USB. PS/2 is an outdated technology but is still included on almost all motherboards and is still the standard for keyboards and mice. Anyway, it's very likely you have the right ports on the back of your PC case. Look for a pair of round plugs, usually one purple and one green. If you don't have any PS/2 ports you might be able to buy a couple of USB to PS/2 converters and plug them in that way. I'm not sure how well it will work, though.
