Need help with installing shower niche with vapor barrier underneath?

i'm putting up 6 mil plastic as the vapor barrier and then 1/2" hardibacker. How do i put in a prefabricated niche in between the studs if the vapor barrier is already stapled over the studs? do i cut part of the vapor barrier out, place the prefab niche and then place cmb over? do i iinstall vb and cmb and then cut out the whole to fit the niche? wouldn't cutting the barrier render it useless?i need some help with this

As this is your second related question, might we assume you found a STALL?

  I cannot strictly visualize HOW the vapor barrier is already installed, or even why it is, Or why  it's even stapled but your notion is correct about cutting, and my confusion is only in not visualizing the project.

  In some measure a vapor barrier isn't a promise scribed in stone anyway, regarding water tight sealing, as that should be attended to at the interior of the finished install. I guess I'm also confused about CMB?

  In any case, any disruption to any plan or subtance designed to BARRIER Moisture, may eventually have some effects.
