Sixth Form College homework. I was suppose to go on St Brendan's Sixth Form College website at www.stbrn.ac.uk/other/depts/law/newnotes... but the website page with the answers doesn't exist anymore. But the questions are as follows:

1) In which city do most barristers work?

2) What is the name given to a senior barrister?

3) Approximately how many people apply to go on the course to be a Solicitor each year (Legal Practice Course)?

4) How many places are available each year on this course?

5) What does this tell you about whether it is easy or difficult to become a solicitor?

Please help. I would be most grateful. Even if you know the answer to only on question please tell me. It doesn't even have to be the numbers for St Brendan's Sixth Form College but any (I'm not going to this college by the way) - please state which college though you have got the information from. Thanks.

  1. 1. London.

    2. Queen's Counsel, commonly abbreviated to 'QC'.

    3. I read a statistic on this once and believe it is around the 10,000 - 15,000 mark (I think!).

    4. Again, I read a statistic on this once and believe it is slightly less than the number of applicants who apply by about 2000.

    5. Well, I'm guessing it implies it's pretty difficult to become a solicitor, although in reality it's getting a training contract or a pupillage which is the difficult part, not getting into law school!
