So I'm what you might call a "makeup virgin" my mom doesn't really use makeup and I don't have any older sisters. I'm 16 by the way.

1) I just went to the store and bought pressed foundation.. where should I put it?

2) On accident I bought waterproof mascara..but I don't have any makeup remover..what could I use instead that I might have around the house. I know plain soap and water won't help.

3) Could you break down the steps on what goes first, second, etc I'm not really sure how it goes.

4) This is the makeup I own...what else should I buy?

-mascara

-foundation

-eyeliner

-eyeshadows

-blush

-lip gloss/lip sticks

5) Is moisturizer necessary (because my face is somewhat oily)?

My skin is oily around the T-zone and slightly oily elsewhere. I also have just a little acne in my t-zone...nothing too severe.

  1. i would use the acne kit from mary kay. its awesome. i don't get bad breakouts either unless i  don't wash.  i just wear waterproof mascara and eyeshadow. i put on the eyeshadow on first so if i messed up i won't mess up my mascara. my mascara isn't water proof. then after the mascara i put on shiny lip gloss on. just remember  this saying "less is more" don't put on on blush or foundation. it takes away your glow.

  2. 1. You can lightly dust foundation over your whole face.

    2. Baby oil will help get off waterproof mascara, but be sure to wash your face super good afterwards to get the left over oil off.

    3. Foundation first, then blush, eyeshadow, liner, mascara, lip gloss.

    4. You seem like you have it all covered =). You probably won't neet much else.

    5. If you notice the foundation is flaking your skin or making it dry or uncomfortable, use a little bit of moisturizer on the dry spots to comfort your skin. If not, don't even bother with it.

Hope I helped. Good luck and don't worry, everyone starts somewhere. Before you know it you'll be a pro!

  3. 1. powder your t-zone more heavily than the rest on your face

    2. vaseline takes makeup off efficiently. so does face wash

    3. first you use spf, second is powder, third is blush, fourth is eyeshadow, fifth is eyeliner, sixth is curling your lashes, seventh is mascara, and last is lip gloss/lipstick

    4. you basically have all you need :]

    5. do not use moisturizer if you have oily skin. it will make you break out more.

  4. well, if you don't hav makeup remover... use a cotton ball and baby oil. thats what i use and it works really good. just put the baby oil on the cotton ball and rub it on your eye. then after that, just get a tissue or toilet paper and dab it under and over your eye.

i dont think you need to buy anything else. it sounds about good.

this is the directions of how to put makeup on:

1- apply the mascara. do your top lashes then your bottom lashes. use a damp Q-tip if you get some black spots around your eye.

    2- apply the eyeliner.

3- apply the eyeshadow. just dab a little bit of eyeshadow on the brush and spread it on your eyelid. its pretty easy.

4- then spread some blush on your cheaks

5- finally, add your lipgloss/ lipstick

i dont know anything about foundation bcuz i dont use any so sorry that i cant answer your first question

    good luck

  5. I think you've purchased everything possible as make up goes.

Moistureizer is ALWAYS a must!  Then foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipstick/gloss.

Don't worry about removing waterproof mascara, soap and water and a little more rubbing that ususal will do the trick.

    Good luck gorgeous!

  6. OkAy....

-Wash ur face with a cleanser.

-If ur face gets too bad, use some astringent/ alcohol. It will dry it out (use it at night only)

-Use cover up to cover up any blemishes.

-Use a large brush to lightly dust on the foundation( it needs to be non-oil, because that could make ur face worse)

-Use bronzer/ blush on the apples of ur cheeks.

    -Use a lip gloss.

    -Apply the eye shadow

    -Then apply the eyeliner

-Then apply mascara... if it is water proof, the better

    USE vaseline to remove it.

  7. I used to sell makeup and my best friend is the manager at smashbox.  You should always start w/ a clean face, use an alcohol free toner and use an oil control moisturizer.  Then use a sponge applicator to apply foundation and dust powder with a pufffy brush to set.   fill eyebrows if needed to accentuate best shape for your face.  smile and apply blush lightly on the apples of your cheeks.  apply eyeshadow with darker colors in the crease of your eye, line your eye with an appropriate liner( no black if you are very fair) last apply mascara and gloss

You can use baby oil to remove waterproof eye makup with a cotton ball, just dont soak it to avoid getting oil in your eyes.

ps, dont go heavy on all parts of your face, choose one thing to do up and let the others go light.  example  if  your eyes have darker shadow and liner  then use a lighter blush or highlighter and a light gloss

  8. Start by washing your face twice a day with a cleanser that contains salicylic acid to clean up that acne.

Foundation is a little bit heavy for teenage day use, but if you have it, then good. Use a (moist) makeup sponge to smooth it evenly across your face, be sure to blend it well into your hairline and jawline. (I hope you got a shade that perfectly matches your skin tone!) Once you don't have acne anymore, you may want to skip the foundation and opt for concealer.

Sweep a shimmery champagne shadow across your lids, browbones, and on the inner corners of your eyes.

Sweep a neutral shade (taupe, perhaps) on just your lids.

Apply an accent shade on the crease of your eyelid. Pick something that will make your eye color pop. (Plum for green eyes, lavender for brown eyes, pink for hazel eyes, bronze for blue eyes, etc.)

Curl your eyelashes (if you don't have an eyelash curler, get one!)

Apply the mascara to just your top lashes.

Use an angled eyeliner brush to apply a touch of eyeliner to the outer corners of your lower lashes.

Smile as hard as you can and apply the blush with a large blush brush to the raised part of your cheeks (called the apples of your cheeks.)

Slick on some lip gloss and call it a day

  9. 1.  Clean your face or remove any oil

    2.  Apply foundation all over to even out your skin tone.  Your foundation should be just a shade lighter then your natural skin tone typically.  You don't want to be one of those girls with the orange face that ends at the chin!

    3.  Very important secret:  apply loose powder all over your face, including eyelids.  This helps keep the rest of the makeup from smearing as the day wears on.

    4.  A tiny bit of blush on your cheek bones.  Use soft round strokes to place on, you shouldn't be able to see where it begins or ends.  It just highlights your smile.

    5.  Eye shadow.  Stay at the crease and below, be subtle and don't go past your eye.  You can do a white shadow very lightly above the crease up to the eyebrow.  The makeup expert on the show "What Not To Wear" says to place a tiny bit of white shadow there and also below your eye and in the corner of the eye near the nose.  This will brighten your eyes.  Do your shadow before the eyeline so the liner doesn't get smudged from your shadow brush if you do your top lids.

    6.  Eye liner pencil, this takes practice.  I like the Cover Girl perfect point eyeliner.  It is moist and thin, you don't need to sharpen it.  It is like a mechanical pencil.  Do not use a liquid eyeliner until you are experienced, if at all.  I hate liquid liner, very bold and messy, hard to get perfect.  And my makeup must be perfect.  Do the lower lid as close to the top of the lid without going into the wet part.  Makeup contains a lot of bacteria after you have used it, and you never want to introduce that into your eye!  Side note: if you ever get pink eye, throw away all eye makeup and buy new as you can re-infect yourself.  I don't use eye liner on my upper lid, you will see if you need to or not.  My tones are all brown and the shadow fits the bill for me up there.

    7.  Curl your eyelashes!  But an eyelash curler and learn to use it.  It's just a metal thing with a padded curved area where you place your lashes then close to bend them and create a "curl."  Costs like $3.  Makes lashes appear much longer.

    8.  Mascara.  If you have naturally black lashes you really don't need any.  Or you could try a clear mascara to keep them in position and make them look longer.  How to apply:  Use lots of short brushing strokes to apply your mascara.  Make sure your mascara wand is free of any clumps before you begin applying it.  You may have to re dip the wand, but always remember to get any clumps off first.  If it is new and very wet, I blot it with a kleenex so that it doesn't leave a huge glob and is more subtle.  Apply to the full length of the lashes being very careful not to get in your eye.  DO NOT use the waterproof!  They damage your eyelashes - they ruined mine!  It causes them to dry out and break off.  Took me years to get them back to normal!  Always do both the top and bottom lashes.  The bottom lashes can be barely brushed with it, blot with a kleenex and lightly brush over them, can go side to side too.  However it works for you to get the color on the lashes, I go more side to side swiping than following the curve of the lashes like you see on the commercials.  I learned that from a Mary Kay lady.

Lips: Shear gloss for shine or barely tinted is best.

A good cleaning regiment that includes a toner and moisturizer is not a bad idea.  I don't know much about those except that dermatologists say you should use one with UV protection every day.  I don't :)

One side note about oil.  I have oily skin and use what is called an oil blotter sheet to remove oil from my T zone in the middle of the day.  It freshens me up and makes me look a lot better.  Just wiping the oil off doesn't do the same, oil blotter sheets are awesome.  I buy mine from Proactiv.

  10. 1. put it lightly over ur face

    2. baby oil and a q-tip

    3.

    a. foundation

                 b. blush

                   c. eyeliner

                     d. mascara

                       e. eyeshadow

                         f. lip gloss

    4. that really all u need

    5. nope its not necessary

  11. face lotion helps to take off the mascara, but don't get it in your eyes.  After you showers use a little bit of lotion on a cotton ball to get any extra mascara off.

I feel like moisturizer is necessary, even with oily skin (get oil-free lotion), because it helps to even out your skin texture to make makeup go on evenly and look better.  Sometimes if a certain area of the face is dryer than others, the makeup will look different. Moisturizer helps this (and can help get rid of mascara lol)

I'd put the pressed powder LIGHTLY over my whole face, then dab on a little more on any zits or blemishes.

Make sure you do it in bright lighting, so you don't put too much and end up looking overdone when you're outside.

THis is the order I do it:

    Wash face

    Moisturizer

    Foundation or all over powder

Concealer to under eyes or zits (or just apply powder to these spots)

    eye shadow

liner (close to upper lash line and lower lashline -where eyelashes meet your skin)

    blend liner with q-tip

mascara (wipe on tissue first to get rid of clumps)

a little bit of blush to apples of cheeks (smile big and put on round part of cheeks)

    gloss or lipstick

Make sure to look close at the mirror to see if you can SEE the makeup too much.  If so, I put some more moisturizer on and wipe a little with a tissue (to take some face makeup off- eye makeup can be taken off a little with a q-tip)

Make sure to look at the bottom of your chin, your hairline, and near your ears to see if there's no line of demarcation, that you can't  see where the makeup ends and your skin begins.

Play around with applying it when you have nowhere to go and nothing to do, and you'll get better.

    Less is more with makeup.

Also some toner, like Clean and Clear Astringent, might help some of the oiliness.  It did when I had it.

Have fun and I'm sure you'll look great!

  12. Hello.....

Always start with a moisturizer with SPF...your skin will thank you for it later :)

Since you are so young and have good skin I say stay away from the foundation....if you would like to brush on some powder foundation that should do just fine.

Add a little blush at the apple of your cheeks (smile, where your cheeks are round that is the apple) ALSO use a blush color that you would naturally blush....pink is always safe

You may want to put on a little eyeshadow...play with fun, light, girly colors.  Apply the shadow with your finger tips...it goes on nice and light and you place it exactly where you want it.

Put a little mascara on your bottom lashes and then a coat or two on the top lashes.  Mascara and lip gloss are a girls best friend.

Then your lip gloss....KEEP THIS WITH YOU :)  I love my gloss!!

Seriously keep it simple and natural.  You can remove water proof with anything oil based (even cooking oil) or cold cream.  I don't prefer water proof BUT that's what you have then you should use it :)!!

Play with the colors and you will be comfortable in no time...

  13. Here are some answers for you:

    1.  Put the foundation all over your face, forehead, nose, chin, cheeks, and blend smoothly.  When I do this, since it you don't want to leave a 'line' around the bottom of your jaw line, I take a slightly damp wash cloth, and wipe lightly just under your jaw line...no make up line.

    2.  Waterproof mascara is fine.  I do not use make up remover myself.  You can simply use Vaseline...rub in on your lashes, just be careful not to get it in your eyes, let it sit on there for a minute, and then take toilet paper and, using the same kind of direction that you used to put the mascara on, take the Vaseline and mascara back off.  The Vaseline also helps to keep your eyelashes from drying out too much from using mascara.

    3.  When putting on make up, always put your foundation on first.  Then, start at your eyes and work your way down.  If you need to groom your eyebrows {tweeze or shave}, then do that, then eyeshadow, then eyeliner on upper lid, then mascara on upper lid, then liner on bottom of eye, then mascara on bottom lashes.  {You may not want to use liner and/or mascara on the bottom of your eyes, just experiment and see what looks best on you.}  Then, put on your blush.  Finally, put on lipstick/gloss.

    4.  For your age, you have plenty of make up...you don't need anymore.

    5.  If your skin is oily, you do not need moisturizer.

***You should wash your face every night with at least soap and water, but you could use Noxema, or Clean & Clear Facial Scrub.  Try not to go to bed with your make up still on...it's bad for your skin, and your pillow cases...lol.  Also, try to remember that LESS is MORE, you don't want to have 'racoon eyes' or wear too much make up!***

  14. alright idk wat to do about the water proof mascara..

    but

ok put the foundation on first..make sure it rubbed in really well and stuff and that its the right color

next but on the eyeshadow..i use darker on teh bottom lid and lighter on the top lid to the brow line...its really cute..andd i use like natural brown looking colors cause i have brown eyes

next after the eyeshadow put on the eyeliner..if you have brown eyes use blue eyeliner..it stands out..

after eyeliner use the mascara..i like the big orange kind..but thats just me

and tehn put on the lipstick..maybe a light color and a lipgloss that blends in

before and after apply the  moisturizer.

  15. alright, foundation is to even out you skin tone so put it everyone, not heavily just a light coat you don't wanna clog your pores. Baby oil will take off the mascara. If your face is oily I wouldn't use moisturizer, you a cleanser that is oil free, too much oil is bad and clogs your pores. Alright well you should put on the foundation first again light coat, if you want to cover up blemishes then you need a concealer and that would go on above that. Then blush, smile and where your cheeks bunch up (the apple) that is where you put blush on, light, not too heavy. Eyeshadow then mascara then eyeliner, then lip gloss
