1) x/ 2 - 1/3 = x/3 - 1/2

:solve the following problems using substitution

1) x/ 2 - 1/3 = x/3 - 1/2

2) 2x+3y = 5

4x-9y = 9

3)solve using elimination

-6x + 16y = -8

6x - 42 = 16y

4) -3+2y = 10

-2x - y = -5

5) 5x+3y = 4

-4x+5y = -18

6) 3x-5y = 8

4x-7y = 10

7) x+8y = 3

4x-2y = 7

Factor the trinomial

2x^2+5x+3

=>x/6 = -1/6

=>x=-1

2x+3y=5 => 4x=10-6y

4x-9y=9

=>(10-6y)-9y=9

=>1=15y

=>y=1/15

=>x=36/15

-6x + 16y = -8

6x - 42 = 16y

Adding gives

16y-42=16y-8

3x-5y = 8 => 12x-20y=32

Subtracting gives

=>x=6

x+8y = 3 => 4x+32y=12

4x-2y = 7

Subtracting gives

34y=5

=> y= 5/34

=> x= 31/17
