if the female does not sit on her eggs how long will it take for them to die of coldness

Hi,

They will die within a couple of hours. Most hen cockatiels won't sit on the first egg until the second one is laid. If the hen lays the first egg and then leaves it then it'll be ok, if however she has been sitting for an hour or two and then abandons it then it might die.

How many eggs does she have so far?  Tiels will not generally begin sitting their eggs until the 2nd or 3rd egg.    They are fine without being incubated until she begins incubating.  After that they will die pretty quickly if not incubated.

First it takes 18-21days for the eggs to hatch your bird could lay from 4-8 eggs,but she will not start to sit them tight till she has finished laying,this is where some people go wrong and you take the time from the last egg laid.

However some hens will sit from the first egg laid and that is when you get the chicks hatching early?this sometimes causes problems with young mothers as the last chick to hatch can be small in comparison to the first hatch-ling and could be neglected in favour of the larger ones.
