My daughter is turning 3 on June 27, 2008 and my husband and I are throwing her a birthday party. It's a cupcake themed party, and colors are chocolate brown and pink. I need ideas on games, goody bags, favors, etc. I want to keep it all about the kids so little details for them like the favors will be great. Our budget is about $300 and I think we can do a lot with that much if we spend it wisely. It's going to be at my mother in laws house, and we were thinking about getting a couple of little waiting pools for the kids since it's going to be like over 100 (we live in Fresno, Ca) As for the menu I was going to order pre-cooked chicken, macaroni salad, fruit salad, beans, rice (my husband is Hispanic) rolls, or tortillas. We are also going to get a pinata. As for the dessert, I work at a bakery so I'm gong to order cupcakes with chocolate brown and pink deco, and then a separate little cake for the birthday girl. What do you think? Please I need help. I'm really stressing out here!

  1. What you have planned so far sounds great and I LOVE the colors!! I also love the theme of the cupcakes!  Your daughter is going to love her party!

I would definitely do the little kiddie pools, the kids will have fun with them, but I would make sure that it's something where the adults you're inviting would pay attention to their children in the pool and not leave it up to you.  Make sure you have some helpers, even if it's older teens that can watch the little ones in the pools.

You can get balloons and streamers in pink, brown, and white, and cluster the balloons around the party and then hang some streamers around the party.  It would look really pretty in those colors and very festive and party-like!

For favors you can get little bags and fill them with stickers, crayons, bubbles, fake tattoos, sidewalk chalk, etc.  Go to the dollar store, you can get packs of those things very inexpensively to fit your budget. The kids will LOVE all those little trinket type things and kids that age LOVE sidewalk chalk and bubbles, crayons and things that are crafty.  They also love stickers and things.  You can also get them pencils and pads, etc.  I would go and check out the dollar stores, you can get TONS there and your money goes SO much further!

For games at that age, you can do hot potato, but you can get a stuffed cupcake, (check toy stores or the dollar store, I have seen stuffed cupcakes!) and play hot cupcake, and just play it the same way as hot potato.  Then print out a picture of a cupcake and play put the cherry on the cupcake, and you can print out a picture of a cupcake and have it enlarged, and then make another copy, make more copies from that and copy the cherries on top.  Or whatever is on top of it.  Then have the kids have to put the topping on, if it's a cherry or candy, etc.

You can also have them play musical chairs,  then get some inflatable beach balls (you can use them for favors for the kids too) and let the kids play with them too.  They'll have fun playing with them on their own.   You can also get some plain cupcakes and have the kids decorate them.

You can set up a an ice cream bar and get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings like sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and cherries and have the kids make their own sundaes.

You can have the kids when they make their own cupcakes bring them home, get plain cupcakes and icing and toppings and have them decorate them and bring them home, this way you have your cupcakes for the kids for the party, and they have their's to bring home for dessert or to a special family member etc.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your daughter has a great party and very Happy Birthday!

  2. I think that sounds really cute!

Maybe instead of getting the cupcakes already iced and decorated, you could just order the cupcakes plain, and then get some big things of icing and sprinkles, and let the kids decorate their own. It'll be really messy, but the kids will have TONS of fun!

in addition to the pools, you could have the kids run through the sprinkler, and play water games.

Party favors- stickers, head bows, (is it all girls?) candy, let you're daughter go through the party favor isle, and pick out one or two things she wants to give out. That makes it more personal. Be sure to get enough so that she can have a bag, too! You may not think she needs one, but it might prevent a lot of jealosy. Its her birthday- let her be the little princess.
