Need help with my dog?

I have a 1-year-old yellow lab border collie and yesterday we were at the dog park for about an hour. When we came home he was pooped as usual. Well the next morning i noticed him walking like his joints was sore. Which could of happened he was playing pretty rough. As he was getting ready to p**p i noticed him lifting his back paw like something was in-between his toes. I looked at his pads and the back one (the big one) was torn up and I looked at the other paw and it was the same. It looks like he was running on concrete and just ripping up his paws. I was looking for advice to make him more comfortable while this heals and I don’t want it getting infected. I’ve already tired giving him aspirin but he just throws it back up. I’ve been keeping him quiet, no running or jumping, no walking unless necessary. I was thinking about putting a gauze pad on the area and wrapping it with some tape (the non stick stuff, the stuff they use when you donate blood or plasma, it doesn’t hurt when you take it off, I’ve used it before). Is it ok to let his continuously l*****g at it? Its shaking like it is really hurting him when he stops l*****g at one of his paws.

  1. no is not okay for him to keep l*****g it, he can l**k it raw and slow healing.

to make him feel better without taking him to the vet

buy some paw stuff at petsmart my old dogs paws did that and i bought it for 6.00 at petsmart.

to make him stop l*****g it buy one of those cones to cover his head so he cant l**k it anymore those are 7-10.00 at petsmart.

  2. First, NEVER give your dog any human medication.  You could kill him.

For his paws, try to keep him quiet for a day or so.  You can try to put the antibiotic ointment, but I would probably recommend spraying with bactine and make sure he does not l**k his paws until it has dried/been absorbed.  Next, see if you can find "Bag Balm" or "Balm Bag".  It is great ointment that was first used in the farming industry for cow utters so it is safe if the dog licks.  It will help keep the pads moist so they don't crack as they are healing.  I think many drug stores carry it now.

  3. I wouldn't let him l**k his paws, it'll just irritate it more. You can put some antibiotic ointment on it, just make sure he doesn't l**k it off. He should be OK. This happened to my dog and he healed fine.

I wouldn't put gauze pads on his feet. It won't hurt him, but he'd be really uncomfortable.

If it looks worse after a day or so consult your vet.

  4. its oka i have two dogs let him l**k it thats the way they heal but if you see him whining take him to the vet

  5. bactine or neosporin and wrap it if not better in a day or two see the vet. dont let him disturbe it further
