Need help with party games.....?

I am desperate for ideas! We (family) are having a picnic in 3 days for 60 people and need some game ideas.

Ages run from 6months to 50years. It is probably 1/2 kids and 1/2 adults. We are having a picnic to get to know each other better.

We dont have a lot of back yard to set up baseball or soccer. We will have tables set up to eat all around the yard.

Isn't there a truth or dare game appropriate or some kind of mixer game to get people to talk to each other? I was thinking of having the older kids do the same thing, but separate from the adults.

PLEASE HELP!

  1. I played this ice breaker one time at a corporate event.  You take60  8 1/2 x 11 pieces of paper and write things on them like ..... John Lennon, Lassie, Superman, Lucille Ball, Jesse McCartney, Emeril, Kim Possible, George Bush, Nancy Grace, George Washington, Rosa Parks, etc.  When people arrive you tape one of these to each persons back (without them seeing the name).  They have to go around the party asking "yes" or "no" questions until they have figured out the name on their back.  They are only allowed to ask each person at the party a question once and then they have to move on.  It really gets people laughing and talking.  Once they have figured out who they are, then they can move the paper to the front of their shirt.  Then everyone will know who is finished.  Have fun!

  2. How about a water balloon toss?  Everyone doubles up, then face eachother about an arm length apart.  Toss the balloon, take a step back, toss the balloon, take a step back, etc.

For the kids, if you have a sandbox, you can have a penny hunt.  Before everyone comes over, scatter pennies in the sand box, mostly buried, but not all, then have the kids hunt for them.

You can have little prizes for winners (something cheap from the $ store would work!).  People laugh and joke and it helps to loosen everyone up!

  3. Group games like taboo are good (not pictionary as this one seems to cause couples to argue.)  Treasure hunts where you leave clues for the guests to follow are good to.
