For example, if I am saying:

The term ethnocentrism is commonly defined as...

what punctuation marks would I use around ethnocentrism. Would it be 'ethnocentrism' or "ethnocentrism"?

Thanks.

P.S. I don't know if it's different for different countries, but I am from Australia, if that changes anything.

  1. "

    in america anyway

  2. u could leave it as it is. doesnt need any puntuation marks

  3. just try "ethnocentrism"

  4. "eth-no-cen-trism"

  5. im from australia also and i personally would use the first ones. the seconds ones to me are for speech.

  6. no silly! you use " " around quotes from individuals!

Dad said, "Girl, get that kangaroo back inside the pen!"

    See??

    You would write:

The term ethnocentrism is commonly defined as...

or, SOME people might let you get away with

The term 'ethnocentrism' is commonly defined as...

OR , and this is pushing it,

    italics on the word ethnocentrism.

    but i wouldnt put anything.

  7. "ethnocentrism"
