  1. If you use a couple or three splitters...

they are basically "Y" cables that plug into the video out of the Wii. One side of the cable goes to the TV so you can see what you are doing. The other side of the cable plugs into the video recording device or converter. You will need three splitters - Video, right audio, left audio.

Alert: Most camcorders do not do video in or pass through. If it does have this feature, it will be in the manual. If you don't have the manual, go to the camcorder manufacturer's web site and download it - normally in the support area.

Additional gear is needed if you want to record directly to your computer - you will need an analog/digital bridge or a video capture card. Pinnacle makes the Dazzle for USB connections; Canopus makes a bunch of different video conversion boxes.

  2. Easiest way would be to connect your Wii to a VCR or other device that has inputs and outputs, and then plug your camera in at the outputs (assuming you have a miniDV or other digital video camera with analog to digital passthrough). Then all you would need to do is to put your camera in VCR mode (you might also need to set A/V passthrough in the menu), connect your camera to your computer through firewire, and capture using movie maker or your favorite editing program. Hope this helps!
