Question:

Need help with running!! im really worried?

at school its sports day tomorow and i have to run 1500m .. i dont think i can do it because i hate running and i sometimes have panick attacks if i think i cant breathe .. i have ran 200m before and i ended up walking the rest .. im 13 and im female .. i need some tips .. everything you can say .. i just need help !! thanxx

  1. With so little time I don't think you can prepare yourself mentally or physically to run 1500 meters quickly.

    I would suggest that you begin the run slowly and continue at a comfortable pace for the first 800 meters. Look at it as a fast jog and nothing more. After 800 meters if you feel comfortable try picking up the pace slowly.

    If you abruptly start running quickly at any point you will go into oxygen debt, feel the panic attack and wind up walking. A comfortable fast paced jog will yield you a much better time than walking.


  2. just start out slow. take deep breaths and just remember that the worst thing that can happen is that you run out of breath. drink a lot of water before. eat a lot of protein and carb-filled foods... not a lot of sugary-stuff. just stay calm the whole time. good luck!

Think positive.  You can do it, just keeping telling yourself, you can.  For the rest of today and tomorrow leading up to sports day, visualize (in your mind) yourself jogging and completing the 1500m.  See yourself finishing and being happy at the finish line.   If you think you can, you can.  Anything is possible but you have to believe it is possible first.  Your mind is so powerful.  I know you are only 13 try it out and you will see.  If you want anything it is yours.

  4. well since you dont like running try jogging. just relax and go at your own pace...unless they have a specific pace for you make it something that you can do effortlessly.
