A producer can make it's own food. Green plants fall into this category because they photosynthesise to produce organic molecules.

Consumers cannot produce their own food so have to eat producers or other consumers etc.

As this fish are decomposed by saprophytes and detritivores all of the nutrients (mainly inorganic compounds, nitrogen ions in perticular) will be released into the soil. The plant can then absorb these and will grow much faster. The nitrogen is used to make proteins and nucleotides.
