Need help with slow running computer.....possible virus?????

Question

when i resart my computer it is stating that i have two programs running and that it needs to end them. one of them is fontcapture and the other is UIPopup hidden. I have no idea what these are but my computer has been running like c**p lately and im guessing its due to that or the Verizon internet security suite ( which is horrible by the way) and help or ideas as to fix this. Also anyone use Spybot search and destroy??? how is it? is it a free download. Thanks and help will be greatly appreciated!!!

use spybot to see if it will clean them(yes it's totally free), if not try panda online scan, while your at it give you computer a good clean up, remove uneeded applications, temp files, defrag , more below

Spybot search and destroy is a really good software but when u r scanning it slows down ur computer, other than that its great.i used it and it worked for me.go to download.com and download it there, its free.

Spybot is very good.

There is more you can do, as this doesn't sound like something that spybot alone can do.

Restart your PC, Pressing F8 repeatedly as it restarts. This should give you the option to start in safe mode. Safe mode lets you operate with only the bare minimum of programs needed to operate and fix your PC.  Once in safe mode, bring up your control panel (start menu) and look in you add/remove programs. Remove anything you do not want, incl the security suite if you have noticed adverse effects from it. You will not be on the net in safe mode, btw. run a search for fontcapture and UIPopup, if they are not on the list and remove them. They should have, in their program folders, an uninstall icon.

After removing all you can, restart your PC normally. Immediately install from cnet.com or another safe site 'avast'- it is one of the best anti-virus programs free on the net. restart again to have that programs' protection. Then you will want to install spybotS&D as well as BeClean. I will put the download sites below. Run all three programs. AND use yahoo anti-spy. once all of these have been installed and run (you will not need the verizon thing anymore.) try a few things and double-check to see if your PC is running better.

Another thing which can slow down your PC is too many music and large image files. Yo may, if you have many of these, want to store them on disk.

{Note: BeClean is a reasonably safe disk and registry cleaner. It also has a custom section wherein you can choose to clean up an area not mentioned in the usual cleaning setup.But you might want to be careful with that part.}

For running slow there are many causes:

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

Spyware/Adware

RAM

De-Fragmenting

Etc.

Below can help you speed up your pc:

Manage your startup:

Open your Start menu  ->  Click Run ->  In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" ->  In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab ->  Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

De-Fragmenting

1. Right click of C Disk.

2. Click properties.

3. Click tools tab.

4. Click "Defragment now".

5. Click Defragment.

You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.

Under steps:

1. right click on the TaskBar.

2. click the Task Manager.

3. click the processes tab.

4. double click the CPU.

5. find if the "System Idle Process" is max.

6. if not right click and click end process.
