Need help with tax credits please

I have met a new bloke who is not the father of my two young children. I do not work and i recieve child tax credits and income support, if i sign off income support will i lose my child tax credits? my new bloke does work and gets paid about £270 pw.

  2. You do not say whether you are living with this new bloke. If not, you are technically still in the same situation as you have been. If you are living together you will need the tax credits to be re-assessed. They will work your tax credits out on the income you both receive, as a joint assessment.

    Whatever you do, do not leave any changes you need to make any longer than 3 motnhs from the time the changes happened as this can also affect the amount you can claim. Try going to the tax credits webpage on

    www.hmrc.gov.uk

    This should have an online calculator that might help you plus phone numbers of help lines.
