OK I have to write a two page report on the following:

Critic Roland Barthes has said," Literature is the question minus the answer." Considering Barthes' observation, write an essay to which you analyze a central question the work raises and the extent to which it offers any answers. Explain how the author's treatment of this question affects your understanding of "The Sun Also Rises" as a whole. Avoid mere plot summary.

What I need to know is what exactly is the question the story raises. I think it's something about love towards other people but I just think I'm way off so if anybody could just tell me what the question is the novel raises then I'm sure i can write the essay about the question and answer.

  1. The Sun Also Rises is a classic, and also one that I have never read, though it is on my list to read this winter.  However, there are numerous free on line resources that can help you with your study of this novel, most of which analyze the story, discuss themes and symbolism and other literary devices, and give character sketches.  If you do a search you will find many helpful resources.  Additionally hundreds of questions have been asked here on Y!A about The Sun Also Rises so do a search for it in the Yahoo Answers search window and you will find lots of Q’s and A’s that should help you.
