There is a building , something like a amphatheater (spelling?), in Venice, Italy. I can't remember what it is called, we went when I was really little. But I do remember you could sit at the top on the benches and look down on to the stage. But if you looked up the ceiling was painted like the sky. Anyone know what I am talking about. The school on the base in Vicenza took us when we were kids.

  1. Hey, maybe you are confusing Venice with Vicenza? It's easy to do if you were only a kid when you saw the theater.

  2. It could definately be the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza... i was thinking, in Venice there is the thatre Fenice but i am not sure about the clouds in the ceiling...

  3. Maybe the Anfiteatro (Arena) di Verona?

  4. the only building I can think of, with a ceiling painted like a sky with stars is "Cappella degli Scrovegni" by Giotto in Padua; but it is not an amphitheatre. Amphitheatres could be the one in Verona that in Italian we call "Arena" or the one in Venice at St. George's island. By the way, there's an amphitheatre with ceiling in Vicenza, too. It is called "Teatro Olimpico" (Olympic Theatre) by Palladio. It is a very important one historically talking. I was in there and I don't think there was a painted ceiling like you described. Hope it helps.
