I think I got the right answer but I'm not sure...

Here's the problem:

Plot the following on graph paper. A(5,3), B(5,-6), C(-4,-6), D(-4,3).

Draw one diagonal and calculate its length.

I think the question might be missing a word, but when I plotted the graph, I got a 9x9 square, and when I drew a diagonal line it was 12.72792206 units long...

I really don't like numbers like that, so I want to make sure.

This, by the way, is from an 8th grade Geometry class. ;) Gifted!

  1. the exact number is 9*sqrt(2)


  2. you are asking for length, not for Area. Then the second one is correct.

  3. your anwser should be 9 times the square root of two. i don't have a calculator on hand to give the exact digits but if you just do that and get the same answer than you got it right.
