A roof rises 2.25 ft over a horizontal distance of 17.37 ft. What is the slope of the roof to the nearest hundredth?

  1. it uses the pythagoras theorem right? horizontal dist. (squared) + height of roof (squared) = slope (squared)

    So the numbers you're looking for is the square root of (17.37x17.37) + (2.25x2.25) which is 17.515. (nearest hundredth would be 17.52)


  2. slope = rise/run = 2.25/17.37 =.13
