There was a house with a beautiful description of the inside of the house and there were pictures posted of the property but only one of the photos showed the inside of the house, the rest were outside. Should she be suspicious of what the inside looks like since the realtor didn't post the pictures? She can't go view the house now because she lives out of the area and is relocating and she doesn't want to waste her time or money if the house needs updating.

  1. realtor.com is a respectful site.  many realtors use it to post their listings and view their competition.  as far as the pictures go, i was annoyed myself by only seeing one picture of the inside, and about 5 of the outside.  i must advise you guys look physically before you make any move!!! i used realtor.com to search for homes in the area i wanted, then once i had the overview i set up a showing with my agent (who is also my aunt).  that site will pretty much give you all the info you need on the property, and it will show you information for contacting the listing agent as well.

  2. Your friend should ask her Realtor to go and preview the house to see if it meets expectations.

  3. Yeah I'd be leary! Don't buy anything without seeing it thou!

  4. I can tell you from experience, it can be tough to shoot an interior of a home.  Oh great, a picture of a window.  Oh, even better, a picture of a closet and a wall.  *sigh*

Contact the Realtor and see if a Virtual Tour is available they can forward.  Those are typically a better representation than pictures.

  5. Even if there were photos of the inside, it wouldn't be a sound decision for her to purchase a home without seeing it for herself and having a qualified home inspector provide a report as well.  A home purchase is a 25 year financial commitment (for most people) and it's in a buyer's best interests to spend a bit up front to examine the home carefully yourself and have an independent party examine it as well.  Remember, photos don't show the number of plug ins and light switches, water pressure, etc.
