I was planning a trip to see the Mamma Mia Musical and I dont know which airport I should fly into. I need one that I can easily get to and from by taxi or public transport.

Anyone know of any good maps, books or websites that will make it easier to fly in, see the musical and out in one/two days?

  1. City airport is closest but may not be so easy getting a plane to it  , next best is heathrow.

  2. Definately Heathrow.

    - There is an undeground line (Piccadilly Line) that goes directly from the Heathrow Airport to the Prince of Wales theater without changing trains or switching to a bus. Get off at Piccadilly circus and walk (150 meters) down coventry street. The train cars on this line are spacious and designed for people carrying luggage from the airport. Transit time is about 50 minutes.

    - Thistle Piccadilly is a midpriced hotel on the same street, convenient to the theater and to restaurants. Rooms from £149 . You may get a better price at the Royal Trafalger one block further on Whitcomb Street

    - When you arrive at the airport, you will see a lot of signs for Heathrow Express. Although it looks faster it deposits you in almost 3 miles from the theater. You must then switch to an expensive taxi, or an underground line anyway. It won't save you any time over just getting on the underground line at the airport, and it will cost you a lot of money.
