  1. You could make anything if you can draw using shapes.  I would run an internet search for images (or goto amazon.com) by David Shannon, David A. Carter, Ed Emberley, and Todd Parr.  Todd Parr's books have stick figures--and my class LOVES his books.  David Shannon's NO, David and David Gets In Trouble are half a step above stick figures and every child I've ever known adores those books.  David A. Carter writes bug books using simple shapes.  Ed Emberley does (among other things) monster books using simple shapes.  He also has books on drawing.  Picture Pie and Picture Pie 2 use circles and cut up circles to create animals, cars, bugs, trains, etc.  He also has thumbprint drawing books where he shows you how to make different things out of thumbprints.

If you look at pages on the 'net of these various authors, you can get an idea of how to draw things that will be inviting to children (even if you can't draw.)  The book itself could be about feelings, patterns, counting (count the animals? count the legs on bugs/chairs/people/spiders?), opposites, shapes and colors, or maybe a retelling of a simple story like 3 pigs or Goldilocks.  Those are all pretty simple to do.

  2. Well this is a really good place to find stuff like this www.pbskids.org or www.crayola.com

  3. Our nursery's subject this term is SEASIDE, last term was PEOPLE WHO HELP US (at home and outside of home).

SEASONs are also good; the book by Shirley Hughes OUTand About is great for idea in that direction.

    Have fun!

  4. When I taught preschool 3 and 4 year olds I would read the book by Eric Carle,"The Very Hungry Caterpillar." It's a simple story with great pictures. I would have circles cut out with different colors and we would make caterpillars. I used magazines so the kids could cut out food pictures to paste around their caterpillar picture. Then the kids could tell their own story of their caterpillar and what it liked to eat.
