Me and my two cousins are making a time capsule. (im a girl and they're two brothers). We're using a shoebox to put contents in. So far I have a birthday card they made for me for my latest birthday, a booklet of Super Smash Brawls (;D we all love that game), my fav CD - Alvin and the Chipmunks, and an album i got (it's mostly filled with pictures and the rest should be filled out once we open it up again. that way we can compare ourselves now and then -- or else should we just fill up the whole thing? XD). The problem is I'm looking through all the contents and some are within only one gender if you know what i mean. like jewlery, makeup, etc. dont get me wrong i know a lot are for boys and girls. but i was wondering if anyone could give me anymore unique ideas?

please && thank you!

  1. if you go to the hardware store and tell them what you want to do (ask an old guy, This will trigger his memories of his youth, and he will want to help you) and ask him what you can use that wont rot away, and will hold up to being buried. tell him you dont have much money, and wordered if he had some old scraps of pvc pipe around that was big enough around to put a lot of stuff in, and some caps for it, too. He may just feel sorry for you if you use the sad puppy eyes, and just give it to you,even, That stuff is made to be buried and last a long time, and it comes in a lot of sizes. even, like 10 inches across,or so, it doesnt have to be really long, just big enough across to put stuff in.  when you get all your stuff in, put the caps on really good, because you dont want any moisture inside, or it will rot everything in there, dont put anything wet, or like fruit in there, either. make sure everything is dry. and maybe even wrap a trash bag aound it all, to keep it dry, Dont use that shoebox, it wont even last a year. If you have a Grandpa still living near you, He would probably love to help you, and would keep it secret, to, if thats what you wanted. They are good that way. Take some picture of yourselves and your family as they are now, too, so you can remeber how you were when you did this. really anything that reflect the times that you masde it, maybe some olympic stuff, a list of ringtones that are popular, or songs that are being played now. scan your school picture and put them in there,

  2. Put in a few friendship bracelets, or anything that might start up a memory. A report card with which you felt you did well on. A shoebox should be fine if you aren't keeping it hidden for a really long time.

  3. You're gonna need a stronger box, chief.

  4. Copy of your local newspaper, copy of USA Today, CD or DVD, video game or it's case/box, go online and get a list of most popular things in today's pop culture, copy of a stylish magazine like People or Cosmo, list of new movies out this year, print out of an email or IM chat session (I'm sure this will be different in years to come), wrapper from your fave candy or food, Coke can (without the Coke in it), cell phone ad from newspaper or online, pictures of your town/school/stores, pics of your houses, pics of your cars, baseball cards for the boys, pics of any pets..........have fun!
