Need ideas...going on road trip from florida to las vegas.?

i am taking a week and i want to go on a roadtrip from florida(miami) to las vegas. i wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on where to stop along the way.

also what should i take and things like that. i have never gone west before so it will be a new experience.

I have been ALL along the west coast Florida to CA. You have kids traveling??

Louisanna- Gambling (which you will do in vegas!) and of course, Bourbon street in New Orleans!

Texas-  Austin- Its beautiful! Hills, lakes, and Great night life!!

           San Antonio- Sea World, Shlitterbaun, river Walk (nice little vaca for kids)

Arizona- Grand Canyon- must do OF course!

New Mexico- Carlsbad Caverns- awesome caves!

Utah- Hoover Dam (very close to Las Vegas)

Vegas- So much more than gambling! Been there 4 times. Go see a Cirque Du Soleil show!

i think you need more than a week!! Take SUN screen, it will be HOT so dress for the weather! Bring Comfy Shoes for your hiking adventures!

It is 2,582 miles from Miami to Las Vegas via the interstate highways.  According to Google maps, the travel time is 1 day, 14 hours, and that does not include stops. Thus, it will take 3 days of non-stop driving, on boring interstates just to make the round trip. Realistically, especially if you plan to eat and sleep, 1 week is not long enough to take advantage of the sites along the way, such as the Grand Canyon, Santa Fe, New Orleans, etc. I suggest that you re-think your final destination.
