Need ideas please!?

Hi,

I am a preschool teacher and need ideas with an arts and crafts idea. Our theme is Easter and i'll be telling a story beforehand about how the Easter bunny has lost his basket. The children therefore need to go help the Easter bunny out and make a basket for him using different materials. What kind of materials could i take with? Newspaper? Cardboard? I will be taking a whole lot of Easter eggs to see if they fit in the children's "baskets" as well...??? Any other ideas?

P.S. This is for a Grade R or older group.

  1. There's tissue paper, construction paper, or things from nature. Preschooleducation.com could  help you with more ideas on that.

  2. I taught at a pre-primary school for a while. I picked up some amazing advice there!

Grade R is expceted to be able to cut out, glue, colour and fold right? O.k so you go to the link ( will put below) and prink t out for as many students as you have on coloured board. Make a slight alteration to it so that there is no top and upper glue folds. Let the kids cut out the pattern, colour it in, glue pictures, go wild. Then get them to cut it out and lue the glue flaps. Add a handle, out of another colour board by making a rectangle shape and gluing it to the inside! Fill with rafia and eggs!

That sounds complex I know, but it wil lbe fun and simple! good luck!

  3. Dye real eggs with food dye. Use modroc placed over cling film on an upturned mixing bowl to make a large basket. Use newspaper strips glued onto balloons only half way too ,like papier mache. See who has the strongest handle by increasing the wieght in the basket. You could make name and address labels for the bunny so he wouldn't lose it again, and decorate them!

  4. Take in lots of different types of paper and let them experiment.

  5. Hi

At our Preschool we have made baskets out of raspberry baskets and then weaved thin ribbon and bows throughout.

We have used sour cream tubs etc, hole punched and got stickers, markers, etc. to decorate. Use a pipe cleaner for a handle. Also cut a egg carton into sections of 3 (cut the dozen into three sections), use a bunny head template and glue it onto the front, cotton ball on back. The children color the head!

Fill all of them with Easter grass and let the hunting begin!

    Have fun!

  6. Make little baskets out of clay you can get a package of clay at Wal*Mart for 99 cents. To get the clay you could send home forms and each parent has to pay like $1 or $2 to help pay for materials and candy or you could ask for material donations and candy donations. They could also paint the clay. Good Idea??
