children's party.. =) well.. life begins at 40 right?.. for a change try children's party.. then.. fill your room with petals,candles and your gift.. =) but don't let her see what's inside the room if the party isn't over yet.. =)

Ok this is low cost but a awesome idea.

1st go to a standard hotel and rent out a meeting room. 2nd. Go to the party store and pick a theme to design the room, such as tropical or my favorite Mardigras. Next get a local mex restaurant make several entres and pick up day of event. Next call all friends and family to show up as a surprise party. They day of, leave early to setup. Bring your lady to the hotel but make her think its for a hot night out.

Get her a very special ring and if u have kids make them give her the ring and give her a kiss

If you have any record of vacations or special moments with her on film like anniversaries, birthday, family, giving birth to a child, etc. You can create a little project like a DVD dedicated to those special and wonderful moments in your marriage. If you have any children you can include them. It is really easy to create one of those DVD's. You can go to www.onetruemedia.com and create a project there and order it on a DVD. I think it'll be wonderful if you do that and maybe get her some flowers, AND take her on a trip to the beach in a very special place!

Plan some time away.  If money is available, then book a weekend get away. If it's not, then plan on something away locally or have family take the kids for a weekend.  Happy Birthday to your wife :)

give her a surprise party, hire a catering services, invite family & friends (from her school) gather all her old & new pictures (show in slides via projector). if you want a simple one, A dinner date will do...Tell her that you still love her the way you've loved her from the very first day...

tread carefully! base your gift around how she feels about turning 40 lol

you dont wanna give her a huge party and make a fuss, just to have her dissolve into tears coz its her "40th" (we had a friend that did just that, she had a miserable time lol..she saw 40 as the start of getting old..we are all so not looking forward to her 50th)

suss your wife out, partners generally give hints on what they want for months..you just have to listen to her :P
