Question:

Need info about hurricanes! In Mobile AL!?

This may sound a little stupid, but I just moved to Mobile AL a year ago from New Mexico and I'm really not sure what to do during a hurricane. The last one I was in AL for was katrina and then I was living in Auburn, so all we got was a bunch of rain. I'm planning on staying in Mobile cause I can't afford to go anywhere else. I live in a large apartment complex and I think the structure is fine, I'm just not sure what to do about food, water, etc? Any help?

  1. check out the weather channel

  2. You will need to have your basic necessities prepared in case you won't be able to go out to the store for awhile.

Good things to have on hand:

    Candles and matches

    Basic first-aid kit

    Flashlights and batteries

A battery operated radio to tune into updates

Fresh water in clean jugs (enough to drink and wash for a few days)

Canned foods with a manual can opener (preferably things you don't have to cook)

Other types of food that doesn't require cooking such as snack foods, fruits, vegetables, etc.

Things to pass the time without electricity - playing cards, books, crosswords, etc.

And if you really want to be on the safe side, pack a suitcase with clean clothes, your ID, money, important documents, etc. in case you need to evacuate.

    Good luck and stay safe!
