  1. they will have 8 to 14 baby every 8 weeks.

  2. there is no way of telling before they are born. rats can have about 12-18 kittens per litter.

  3. The only way to know for sure is have an x-ray done on the pregnant mom.

The average litter is about 10-12. When she goes into labor, she will have a bloody discharge and then she should start having one baby every few minutes until she is all done.

If you see her straining for over 2 hours after the bloody discharge and she still hasn't had any babies, then they are stuck and she will need an emergency C-section. Also, if she has few babies and then she strains and doesn't have any more for over an hour, she will need an emergency C-section because the rest of the babies are stuck.

You can usually tell when she is done because instead of sitting still and waiting for the next baby, she will curl up with them and start to let them nurse.

Edit: Moey, you really need to do some research before you post false information to people. I see you doing it every day!

Rats can have anywhere from 1-22 kittens/pups in a litter. And yes, you can get the mom xrayed to find out how many are in there.

  4. I'm pretty sure there is no way to tell exactly, but the average is around 10.
