  1. that truck is ten years old and not hardly worth what their asking for it,the mileage is good on it though but with the problems you listed with rust being on it,i wouldn't pay that for it,i bought a 2001 dodge ram with everything fully loaded for 2 grand, with only 89 thousand on it,they got that one priced way too high.and the mileage on it isn't going to be that good, about 17-19 on the highway and around 12-14 maybe more in the city if your lucky with it those was also popular for giving transmission problems along with timing chains going bad at about 100-120 thousand, think about this one before you buy it theres a lot better deals to be had out there right now, especially on the v-8 trucks their selling cheap right now, good luck.

  2. well take the TB air hat off and open the throttle blades and shine a flashlight down and look for any oil  down there.  if there is oil. then the belly pan  gasket seal is n and need a new one.  the heater cores are know to  give out a lot and can  be a costly repair as you have to take the whole dash out just to replace the core. my sister had a 98 I think and replaced the heater core 4 times.  plus look at the ball joints also.

open the oil filter cap and see if there is any sludge build up in there. if there is build up walk away from the truck.

ask for a car fax report from the dealership. they have to provide one for you.

as  far as MPG its a 318 v8 dodge. nothing on  dodge is fuel efficient.  nothing you can  really add to  improve  mpg
