  1. You will need to go to the Records Office in Newcastle. His death should be registered there-presuming you still lived in Newcastle. You can buy a copy of the death certificate and that will give you some information to start your research.

    Good luck.

  2. Was his full name MATTHEW JAMES HALE  ? died 2002 Leicester. It is the only Matthew Hale death registered 1983 - 2005

Edit : I've checked 1980 to 2005, only one other, a Matthew Joseph, born 1903.

  3. There isn't anyone of that name registered in 1995 or any alternative spelling.

It might be an idea to check his birth record to make certain that  he didn't have a different 'official' name. Do you know when he was born? Maybe one of us could take a look.

EDIT - if you know what school he attended maybe you could look up some of his class mates who'll be able to tell you their memories about him? another idea is to look up the local newspapers at around the time he died and see if there's any kind of notice or obit?

  4. Here in the UK  the only information you can get off the Internet is the GRO numbers from the BMD index. We don't have on line certificates for any life event because of the DPA, if you would like the GRO numbers then I am almost certain someone can find them for you.

    hope this helps.
