I have been researching and this is supposedly the best camera out there for my price range. Does anyone have any info on it?

If you own one can you tell me if I need any sort of software to put the pics on my computer or can I just plug it in with the usb cable and upload the pics? Because I don't want to buy something and it not work with my computer.

Both the Nikon D700 and D300 are excellent, but they are for different types of photographers.

A D700, being full-frame, is best for wide angle shots, landscapes, architectural, etc.

A D300, being a DX model, magnifies every telephoto and is best for sports, and shots from a distance.

Plus, the D700 is much more expensive than a D300.

Both come with excellent software, and will work with any graphics software your computer has.

    Hope that helps.

  2. I have a D300 and I love it. But the D700 is a full frame sensor. Bigger sensor for the same number of MP= more light captured = better photos for the same skill level. So yes the D700 is better. You can plug it in with the cable and download to windows and it comes with View NX. My D300 also came with cature NX a very powerful usable image editing program that you can also download with. Photoshop will also download the photos from it but you probably will have to download an update for the camera RAW files from the adobe site if you shoot RAW ( and with either of these cameras you really should shoot RAW to get all the features ) I think you will love either cameras.
