Need information on seeing the cliff divers in Acapulco?

I'm taking a cruise to Mexico in November, one of the stops is in Acapulco. I'd love to see the cliff divers while I'm there. There is little information on them on line, I'd like to know where they are in relation to the cruise ship docks (is it in walking distance?) The cruise line offers a shore excursion for $59 that includes the cliff divers, if I see them on my own, it's about $3 each. If it's a reasonably short walk, I'd rather just see the divers, otherwise, I'll pay the extra money to take the excursion.

  1. No I certainly would not consider it walking distance. You will find 30 cab's waiting for you to go wherever you want. Grab one and tell him where you want to go. Along the drive look for some bars or resturants you may want to check out. Go see the divers and either start walking back or grab another cab and work your way back to the ship. Eating or drinking whatever floats your boat ( pun intented ).This will get you away from the other cruise passangers and be alot cheaper and at your pace and your options. I don't know how long you have on shore but sounds like a better way to go with the little time you'lll have. My favorite spot is at the North end of the bay ( where you will dock ) is a tiki hut bar right on the ocean. Keep a look out on your cab ride for the huge Mexican flag and right below it is the bar. Stick your toes in the ocean and have a beer. They also have food and whatnot.Traveling is all about ( for me ) getting in with the locals and tasting the culture so I think a cab will do that better than hanging with a bunch of Americans , you've seen all week on the boat anyway and have a less scheduled excursion at a cheaper cost. Cab I would guess about $10 usd. You can pay every where with US dollars but educate yourself with the exchange rate so you can quickly tell if someone is taking advantage of you. I think the exchange is hoovering at $10.83 to $11 usd to a peso, so I just divide the peso price by 10 and you have a quick and easy calculation for your purchases.Say the cab is 900 peso's - dive by 10 and its a little less than $9 US dollars. Have fun !

  2. take a cab.  it's a 20 to 25 peso trip ($2) in one of the little VW cabs.

you could walk.  it would be about a 30 minute walk - straight uphill.  so you would be better off in a taxi.
