I've just qualified to teach English to non-English speakers, so now I can go almost anywhere to work. The problem is I can't focus on one place because i have too many options! im hoping to find something/somewhere that i get a good feeling about so i will just go for it without thinking ' but what about...' Maybe that's wishful thining?

(I realise there are worse probs in the world, but knowing that doesn't help me make this one)

If you have any experience, or ambition, to live and work anywhere where English is not the first language I'd love to hear from you.

thank you so much!

  1. I'd live in Japan. Why? Cuz I love japanese food, I love anime and I've heard it's quite a safe place to live in. Also cuz yesterday I learned how to make sentences in japanese =P

  2. Either Sicily or the Island of Mull because that's where my ancestors came from.

  3. I'd live in Italy on the Mediterranean.  Good olives, good wine, good bread, good cheese and d**n good scenery.

  4. Allow me to suggest Kyoto in Japan.  It is a beautiful city of about one million people, it is a big university town with lots of people wanting to learn English as well as being their cultural capital.  When I visited there for 5 days, the tourist office had hundreds of notes on the wall with people offering their services (ie. I will teach you Japanese cooking, ceramics, bonsaii, calligraphy, painting etc.or I will be your guide for the day) in return for practising their English with you.  I thought I could stay here for ages and be entertained every day.  I'm sure you could get a paying job there and then on your days off be entertained by the locals just wanting to practise there English.  Kyoto is one of only Asian cities that I felt I could enjoy living in.  All the kids learn English at school so they have some English (allbeit with very thick accents).  They make very good students - very conscientious.  We got a guide for the day - a young engineering student who was quite nervous and who had stayed up all night studying in case we asked a question about Kyoto that he didn't know the answer.  I'm sure if you went there you would love it.  GOOD LUCK!

  5. If you do your research, Korea will pay you the most money to go and teach for a year.  The going rate is approx. $35,000, plus they pay for your transportation to and fro, maybe a couple of trips back home during the year, and will pay for all your lodging for the year.  Some programs may even give you a meal allowance, and / or reimbursement on your teaching cloths or supplies.

  6. Spain.

    Italy.
