I'm going to be keeping my 9yr old nephew for about a year or 2. And I would like to know if anyone has any meal ideas. I know last time he was with me he ate spaghetti and meatballs almost on a daily basis. I want to come up with some other ideas. He didn't like the baked fish, shake n bake chicken/porkchops. Any ideas? Thanks!

  1. my kids like pizza made with the thomas english muffins and when i make the rigatoni with cheese and tomatoes

  2. He needs to be eating a more balanced diet.  Kids can't thrive on just what they like, they need an adult to make sure they eat what they should.  It's not about weight, but nutrition.  Approach it like an experiment and test out some REAL food, not processed, boxed products.  You'll be surprised what kids like.

Keep in mind that he won't starve.  Kids eat when they're hungry and if you have good choices available, he will make them.  Whatever you do, NEVER allow him to have PB&J or cereal instead of a healthy meal.  It will become his crutch.

  3. 2 years is along time to be giving special treatment to a 9year old i suggest you give him whatever you would usually make for you and whoever else is in your household.

  4. chicken nuggets and fish sticks

    campbells soup

    macaroni and cheese

    grilled cheese sandwiches

  5. chicken nuggets, chicken patties,  tuna fish, mac n cheese, pb&j, pizza, tacos, wraps or sub sandwiches, spaghetti o's, beefaroni, ravioli, hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, hamburger helper meals, taquitos, slices of turkey on regular white bread covered with gravy, quesadillas, marinade some chicken in Italian salad dressing, sometimes at our house we have what we call "backwards night" where I make pancakes or waffles or egg sandwiches is nice when I'm pressed for time.

Those are some quick, kid friendly ideas that always works with my kids.. Ages 14, 6, & 15 months

  6. You know kids are more likley to eat new things if they help you cook. Check out a kids cookbook, I like the rachel ray one a lot.
