Ok. Sorry, but I am not going to tell you the actual idea in fear that someone will steal it, but I know its smart because its something I KNOW everyone has a problem with. Anyways, no one i know has ever invented something so they can't help. The thing is, not only do I not know what to do with my idea, but i am only 13, which means that i couldn't enter most contests, can't get a patent, and probably some other stuff i don't know about. also, my idea does involve chemical reactions, so i can't make it myself. its just an idea. please help me. i know this will work, i just need help

  1. I'm not aware of any age limit regarding who may apply for a patent. Your youthfulness should not be a problem in obtaining one. However, if your idea is too vague and unspecific, you will not be granted a patent. I remember reading years ago about a person who applied for a patent on a cigarette and cigar receptacle that would contain "some chemical" to extinguish them, but since he did not specify what chemical, the patent was not granted. You need to know exactly which chemicals you intend to use in your invention, and that they will perform as you intend.

I would enlist the help of a trusted adult family member with your patent application, if I were you. Good luck to you!
