  1. I would split the rent equally, but if you want to do it that way I say 50 bucks at the most.

  2. If you both move in at the same time, Work out an agreement. Otherwise if you rent and take on a roommate, you can set the price as you want. You could go 600/600 or 650/550 or 700/500.

    Have a written agreement listing:

How much rent for each room?

What happens if one of you take on a live-in? if one of you share your room with someone else, you should pay more.

What happens if one of you move out and want to sublet our room?

How do you get the landlord to take one of you  off the lease? Will he allow sublet?

How much notice will you be required to give before moving?

What if you don't get along? Who moves and how much time will the moving person have to get out.

What about pets? and who pays the pet deposit?

Just a few things to consider. Understand you will have times when you won't get along. The better you do setting up rules and expectation, the easier it will be when it happens. One of you will use the others things, (you drank my milk) (Your friend touched my stereo) or one of you will not clean up. (You left dirty dishes i the sink again) It will usually be petty, but you will feel you are right.

  3. 120:80 =  1.5 : 1

    Rent 720 : 480

  4. Well that is a tought questions.  When my daughters were in college, they usually tossed a coin to see whom will get the bigger room, and if there was an extra closet in the hall, it usually went to the person with the smaller room. The rent was divided equally.
