Currently I attend The University of Memphis, Go Tigers. My home town is 3 hours away. I am currently recieveing hope scholorship of $4000. My parents try to help me but can not come up with enough cash. I will get a job this summer to try to pay for my school for the fall of 2008. I should make atleast 5000.I plan to not work during the school since I will be taking 16-18 hours of Mechanical Engineering courses. My titution runs about 6000 and my apartment will be about 6000 a year plus the cost of food. How can I get the money to go to school?

  1. why not try to get a student loan or personal loan from the bank.

    maybe try a bursary program?

  2. First go to the financial aid office at your school to ensure it is not too late to apply for additional financial aid.  They most likely will tell you to fill out a FASFA form.  Apply for financial aid using the FAFSA forms that can be found at www.FAFSA.ed.gov.  Choose your school on the form to send your financial information.  The school will provide you with any additional grants, funds or low interest government loans that you are eligible for to try to cover your costs.  If the school does not cover private housing, you will need to take a private educational loan offered by private banks.  (Try studentloans.com)

  3. Apply for a loan. Many students do; I have one! Yes, you will have to pay it back after you graduate, of course; at least it will enable you to continue going to school.

Talk to your parents about getting a loan and see what they think.

  4. I'm in the same situation. I just decided to get a loan, that took care of my expenses along with my fafsa.

  5. i used a site that helped me get money fast... check out http://www.helpgetfunded.com

you will see what i mean...

    good luck!

  6. FAFSA.COM

  7. like everyone else that is strapped prostitution

  8. If you are an american citizen just go to www.FAFSA.com and get a federal student loan.  Good terms and you don't have to pay until after you graduate.  Go for it.

  9. You may want to try getting a loan from the student union.. alternatively, some of the banks do have 'education' loans facilities too..

  10. The scholarship is great but are you not receiving loans and grants through the FAFSA you definately could get that money covered by them, go to your financial aid office and talk to them, you may have to take a loan, but most of us have or are in order to take care of school. Sucks your parents are poor but I am sure the financial aid office will work with you.

  11. Only two ways I know are work (the best) and student loans.
