Need more information?

Previously I asked how to find out about a manufacturer or a product and how to get that information. The person who answered my question gave me information about the maufacturer but my real question was how can I find out that information for myself for other histories of a particular product or manufacturer. EX: I have an antique that I want to find out more info on - manufacturer, etc. Is there a web site where I can find out this info for myself.
