Need more responses please.?

Question

If you were looking for a computer repair company, where would you start? Would you ask a friend, use the yellow pages or internet? I am looking for more places to advertise our services. Your help is greatly appreciated.

First, I would ask friends for recommendations, then the Internet.  You may also want to join your local chamber of commerce...excellent networking resource and it usually doesn't cost very much.  My local chamber is really great and helps with my ads/posters/advertising ideas, etc.  

Yellow pages, in my opinion are too expensive and not too many people actually use that anymore.

I'd do all of those. One could come up empty when another could strike pay dirt. You never know why, but it happens.

I would always ask a friend first, as a personal reference of work well done is worth a lot.  Secondly I use the internet- it tends to be more up to date than the Yellow Pages (and more convienant since I am on the computer).  Bear in mind, your target consumer is a computer user, so I think that is where you should target your advertising- such as maybe paying to be listed at the top of the Yahoo Yellow Page listings.

Lastly- maybe you should go on eBay and auction off Gift Certificates for your work, to get some people experience with your company?  For example, go into the Gift Certificates section, and sell off Gift Certificates for $50 worth of labor for $25 or something like that.  People love a deal, and that will help get the word of mouth going for full-price work.
