So i have to write about one symbol from the book "the joy luck club" by amy tan and iw as thinking either the actual piano that jing mei woo had or the piece she played at the talent show called "pleading child". please tell me if this makes sense:

the song is a symbol of jing mei herself because she is a pleading child because she did not want to play piano but her mother forced her too and then all the mistakes she made at the recital were like mistakes that she made in real life and stuff like that.

so should i use that one or the piano or something completely different? please help me, thank you

  1. If you do the song, be sure to point out how she realizes at the end that the other half of the song is called "Perfectly Contented."  :)

I think the song is a good symbol, and I like your idea about the mistakes she makes.  You might also write about her relationship with her mother and how the song relates to that.  Why is she in conflict with her mother?  What does she realize about her mom at the end?
