Need other option for life insurance other then military SGLI?

My hubby is going to deploy soon and I am thinking of getting a life insurance on the side of the one offered by the military. I dont wish anything happens to him but I was talking with someone who told me that sometimes it takes years to get the insurance money from the SGLI . Im not being money hungry I just want to make sure I'll have enough to cover any cost if anything should happen, since I am a stay at home mom and have not been lucky enough to have enough money to save up. So that being said... Does anyone know any other life insurance for soldiers?

Being deployed is going to make any insurance company I know, not want to give him coverage.

I think you'll have to wait until he gets back.

There is lots of term insurance available that caters to the military - MOAA, AFSA, USBA, AFBA, etc.  You will want to look closely at the terms and exclusions, however, as it pertains to active service.

P.S.  It does NOT "take years" to get SGLI benefits paid.
