Question:

Need privacy ideas for bedroom located in front of house?

Our bedroom is located smack in front of our house. The sidewalk is located MAYBE 10 feet away.

We have blinds -- no curtains.

I love to have the window open at night (about 12 inches or so) to get the cross breeze, but after a quick look myself, I found people can see right into the bedroom through the small portion of pulled up blind.

I put two rocking chairs in front of the windows, but you can still see.

I've thought a folding screen inside would do it, but it just would take up too much room.

1. Are there any sort of window screens that can be installed that are permeable to air current, but provide privacy blockage?

2. If not, what other ideas are out there that can provide coverage, but keep the air flowing.

Thanks so much!

  1. You can probably find tinted screens. You mentioned not having curtains. Do you not want any? Curtains would be a great idea. Air can come through the slits and you can still have your windows covered. And blinds should be able to be down all the way with the window open. But I would look into curtains...

  2. two thumbtacks would hold up any cloth fabric to block the view.

  3. Wooden blinds? They fold accordion-like and look like shutters on the inside of the window. They let air through, but when they're slanted, you can't see in.

  4. can you open the window from the top instead? some windows you can push the top part down, then just open the slats on your blinds by hand so the air can flow in easily at the top.
