I'm 21 and want to buy a handgun in California, but I don't have utility bills, property deeds, vehicle registration under my name (I do have a drivers license), or anything like that. I have bought firearms before but this is my first handgun. What other options do I have?

  1. i'd try my drivers license and/or birth certificate, but your Drivers license should work

  2. Wait a minute, Are you trying to tell me that Calipornia is now requiring proof of residency beyond a DL? A State issued Drivers License?

What absolute lunacy...Who came up with that one Diane Fienstien? Barbara (I sell bras) Boxer?

  3. birth cert,

  4. Unfortunately you may be stuck.  PC 12071 requires a driver's license and additional proof of residence.  Phone bills won't work but a residential lease or rental agreement will.  Even if you are living at home you can enter into a lease agreement with your parents to fulfill the requirements of the law.  Any government issued identification (like a Passport) that includes your address will also satisfy the requirements of the law.

  5. Don't California drivers licences have your address on them so the cops can give tickets for not getting it changed if you move?

  6. Voter registration, join the Democratic party, try to modify their stand on guns and gun rights.

  7. If you have a job you could probably use a paystub.
